Yesterday I showed you the first page of my latest project – the first one I could call finished (ish).
This is the latest page, I began playing with over the weekend.
Starting out with gesso and inks, layered up and finished with hot glue blobs
Inspired by the very lovely and talented Contadina K
Just as a little aside from other makings, 
Not quite a scrap book, not quite a mood board… 
I’m calling it my Wish Book 
These are some elements for pages serving to crystalise in my mind the hopes I have for the near future… 
Delighting in the way they find their places together 
unplanned (such is my style!) 
these are the colors and shapes I am running towards 
the textures and lushness 
the future starts here! 😀
They say you have to crack eggs to make an omlette.
Right now I’m more than a bit absorbed in strategizing, selecting which eggs to crack next.
TBH, it’s gonna get a bit eggy around here, for a little while.
But my metaphorocal omlette will be delicious, not least cos it’ll provide space for me to create, that is in every way, a very big improvement on this:
This is my not-very-big bit of floor in the loft room. Ankle deep at the shallows, its main benefits are better light than the rest of the house and the radiator immediately behind where I sit! 😉
I’m still dropping by as often as I can to catch up on your doings and makings, for the invaulable inspiration you put out there, and cos you guys make me smile like a fool (quite a lot). Just I might not have so much time for posting as I’d like.

Day 2, and so far I’m quite liking 2013.
It’s demanded nothing to arduous from me.
It’s given me time to play with these square things!
They’re a work in progress, I think a little more to be done, then framing.

Hey folks – Happy Holidays to you all!
We’ve had a lot of dark, gloomy, rainful days here. Not a big grumble, weather happens, but the half-arsed grey wet daylight has severely hampered my ability to any good photos lately. This week, finally I got a few pics of my latest adventures and obsessions!
When time and people permit, I like to pretty much hibernate from around 21 December straight through to a couple of days into January. Not so much a big sleep, but a big re-charge. I spend most of these days actively pursuing colors and shapes in some fashion or another 😉
Recently I’ve found myself making a whole load of these. Srsly, like dozens of them. Ranging in size from about 1/2 inch upwards to 2 inches, they really satisfy the no scrap is too small to keep mentality!
To what end I can’t be certain, but I mounted a few up on some dyed paper and framed a few in little Ikea box frames.
Some of them have a very dimensional quality – consisting layers of paper and some with corrugated card – so they work well in a deep box frame. (pics to follow…)
Hang on… like a deja vu thing going on here… these things remind me of something…

Curious… I’d totally forgotten about them til typing this post… But do feel encouraged, at least I’m consistent with my obsessions, even if I’ve no idea what they’re for (yet).
So, dear friends and visitors, whether you’re getting ready to party the new year in, or already have done, I wish you all the very best for 2013.

As a kid I assumed Boxing Day was a reference to the amount of boxes strewn about the place after ‘unwrapping day’.
Ok, hands up: When you surveyed the goodies Santa brought you, how many of you were also eyeing up the boxes and packaging debris… as a wonderous array of new paper, card and art mmaterials?
Xmas was low key in my world this year – I’m happy with this – but was heartened by IK‘s delight at the fabulous orange gift bag and box I received. Oh yeh, and of course the thing inside it too. It stirred up young memories of hearing my mum on the phone… ‘yes she loved the gift… though TBH she spent more time playing with the box it came in…’
My big project this term is entitled Memento Mori. Considering mortality.
The aspect of mortality I’ve chosen to illustrate is the fading out and tapering off that some lives go through toward the end; The detachment and fragmentation a person sometimes encounters in their final days, months or years.
I’ve created a series of prints and drawings, portraits of my mum, taken from a photograph of her on her 16th birthday. They are abstracted and distorted, a little surreal. Her final years were spent largely in a dream world, she’d tell me of her fantastic adventures and travels, peppered with memories and enriched by a life time of reading and absorbing information and ideas, as her mind escaped from the body which no longer worked.
The following short animation is made up of some of the images I created in the process.

Here’s the thing, I’m presenting my project in class tomorrow, a series of portraits.
So, as the deadline creeps up I’ve suddenly taken it into my head to add a short animated doodad into the mix.
I’m fine tuning it just now but I’ll post it up this evening, your constructive criticism would be much appreciated! 😉

Update! It’s much-later o’clock… I realise I’ve been arsing about figuring how to show you this thing… It’s a Flash file (.swf) – which looks all fine n dandy over here but is no good to upload for you to see. Any top tips on converting it to a usable format ?
