All through April I’ve been delighting in the tealy-turquoises, the minty aquamarines, azures, and cerulean ocean hues of Blue-Green.
Finding color in everyday life is more of a challenge in these days of quarantine, but there are still places to look. Take a trip back through the photos in your camera, or flick through magazines, notice how color is used in TV shows and movies. Once you start to look out for it, you’ll see much more!

Show ‘n’ Tell
For TWELVTY this year I’m making a series of small mixed media pieces for each color. They range in size from postcard size (ish) down to really-weeny-small.
At the end of the project I’ll assemble them into some bigger multicolored somethings. For now I’m focussed on one color at a time, and playing with ideas. Every month I’ll share some of my process with you here in this blog.
Here is how my month of blue-green took shape.
A little dreamy interlude of watery watercolours.
Invisible patterns, watery colored swirls over transparent shapes.
I often don’t know what I’m doing or where I’m headed. And oftentimes it works out okay.
These are some of my favourite bits I worked on during the month of Blue-Green. Some feel like finished pieces, and some might get combined together when I return to them at the end of the year.
For now I’m setting these aside in readiness to move on to the next color: Blue
