Balanced in blues

Day 37. As summer has finally arrived in the UK the balancing cool blues refresh the eyes and the soul. It’s watercolor again today.

Day 38. A rummage through my box of ideas produced these photos of anonymous Victorian ladies, in the classically wistful pose of the age. Their eyes and details are enhanced with ink and graphite.

Day 39 More cool blues, a day tinged with sadness as I had to say a final goodbye to my long time furry friend, Woozle-cat. Which led to this outpouring of words.

Day 40. Oh how I love these colors! They lift my spirits and warm my soul!

Day 41 finishes this book, I’ll catch you up with this later on, and then we reach Book Three, which begins today!

12 in 12 update

Unbelievably the first 1/2 of the year is almost through! As is the 12 in 12 book.

It’s a while since last update, so here’s the tail end of May’s (Blue/Green) pages:

Which nicely lead into June’s (Green) pages:

May in progress

There’s a special place in my heart for those indeterminant colors that fall into ‘not quite green’ and ‘not quite blue’. Aqua-tealy-turquoise, if such a beast exists, is the color of May in my 12 in 12 project

We’re only mid way through, but here’s how May is looking so far!

12 in 12 to the end of April

Half way through another month seems a fitting time to update you on the 12 in 12 project.

In a book dedicated to the project, every month focuses on just one color in the color-wheel. April was the month for blue, and these are the previously unposted April pages…

detail here….

This brings us to May, and shades of blue/green colors I’m naturally drawn to!
I shall post these pages so far in a bit!

layers on overspill

Sunday 29 April: This page started out with some overspill remnants from previous inky fun – the golden orange magenta dyes.

It’s been a while since I played with watercolors and the blue forms are today’s addition.

I’m messing about with different techniques – this time using a water brush dipped directly into the tube of watercolor paint.

The wonderful rich turquoise is from the Koh-I-Noor dye paint

I love the magic of colors interacting!

Watery puddles take the pigments in their flow. As the water evaporates the trails are left.

April blues

This month’s  colors in the 12 in 12 project, not the mood or music. I’ve hit the ground running into April’s new colour and already (day 4) have the beginnings of 4 pages to share with you….

The first page of April

I’m playing with cut-outs, I like the way it links the pages letting glimpses of the next and previous pages show through. The tiny diamond shapes have informed the way the patterns grow and develop through these four pages.
