Every month through 2020 I’m diving deep into one color of the color wheel:
12 colors in 12 months: All through February I’ve been exploring Yellow–Green.

Finding color in everyday things has become a small obsession of mine.
I’ve got an ever growing collection on photos in my phone of colors I’ve spotted when I’m out and about.

Show ‘n’ Tell
Throughout this year I’m making a series of small mixed media pieces focusing on one color at a time each month. They range in size from postcard size (ish) down to really-weeny-small.
At the end of the project I’ll assemble them into some bigger multicolored somethings. Every month I’ll share some of my process with you here in this blog.
Here is how my month of yellow-green took shape.
Surface Textures
Make those first layers more dynamic (and unpredictable!) by painting over a layer of gesso or acrylic medium.
Paper Weaving
Looking at other ways to make patterns: when in doubt – cut it up and rearrange the pieces
Next up we move round to Green.

These are some of my favourite bits from the yellow-green episode. I’m always surprised how many different ways a single color can look.
These pieces are away in a box now until the end of the project when I’ll revisit them again.
